The STaR Method
A Complete Pitching System Built for Young Athletes
Three pillars. One proven framework. Designed for ages 6–13 by a doctor and coach with 30+ years of experience.
How It Works
Structure. Technique. Repetition.
Most youth pitching programs skip straight to mechanics — but if the body isn't ready to move correctly, no amount of coaching will stick. STaR Training Academy starts from the ground up: building the physical foundation first, then layering in proper mechanics, then reinforcing them through guided repetition until they become automatic.
The Three Pillars
Structure
Build the body before you build the pitch.
Young athletes ages 6–13 are still developing physically. Limited mobility, poor balance, and weak coordination are the hidden causes of bad mechanics — and future injuries. Before we ever talk about pitching, we prepare the body to move correctly.
Lesson Previews
Mobility Foundations
Hip flexor, shoulder, and thoracic spine mobility drills that unlock proper pitching range of motion.
Balance & Stability
Single-leg balance progressions that build the stable base every pitcher needs on the mound.
Coordination Drills
Cross-body movement patterns that train the nervous system to sequence upper and lower body together.
Functional Strength
Age-appropriate resistance band exercises that build arm-friendly strength without overloading young joints.
Technique
Simple mechanics. Real results.
Pitching mechanics don't have to be complicated. We break the delivery into clear, teachable pieces — each one building on the last — so young athletes can actually understand what they're doing and why it works.
Lesson Previews
The Athletic Stance
Proper foot placement, knee bend, and weight distribution that set up every pitch for success.
The Wind-Up & Leg Lift
A controlled, repeatable wind-up that generates momentum without sacrificing balance.
Stride & Hip Drive
How to use the lower half to create power — the most overlooked part of youth pitching.
Arm Path & Release
A safe, efficient arm path that promotes accuracy and protects the elbow and shoulder.
Follow-Through
Finishing the pitch correctly to protect the arm and set up fielding position.
Repetition
Practice until it's automatic.
Great mechanics aren't learned once — they're practiced until they become instinct. Our follow-along workouts are designed to be done daily in just over 20 minutes, reinforcing the right movement patterns every single session.
Lesson Previews
Daily Follow-Along Workouts
Structured 20-minute sessions your child can do at home with minimal equipment.
Progressive Skill Ladders
Each week builds on the last — skills compound so improvement is visible and measurable.
Foam Ball Drills
Indoor-friendly drills using a foam ball and tube sock that build muscle memory safely.
Confidence Checkpoints
Built-in milestones that let athletes (and parents) see real progress along the way.
